FAQ's
About ANA's Website
Q. Why is ANA's website so basic?
A. ANA's website is designed to be informational and provide a forum to share ANA's mission in the most cost-effective manner possible. This enables ANA to reserve its funds for its programs that help families in need.
Q. How often is the site updated?
A. Information on ANA's website is updated periodically by volunteer Board members. As often as they are able, volunteers update pages of the website.
About Donations
Q. Is my donation tax deductible?
A. Yes. ANA is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization and donations are tax deductible to the extent provided by law.
Q. I'd like to make a donation in memory of a loved one. Do you notify the loved one's family that a donation has been made?
A. Yes. At your request ANA will send a gift acknowledgement letter to the family of the person(s) in whose memory you have donated.
Q. How will my donation be used?
A. ANA is staffed entirely by volunteers so there is no 'overhead.' As a result, 100 percent of all donations are used to fund ANA programs.
Q. Do you share donor information with any other entities?
A. No. ANA does not ever share its donor information with other organizations. Donor information is released only when a donor has requested a gift acknowledgement letter.
Financial Information
Q. Does ANA complete IRS form 990 or 990EZ?
A. Because ANA's income totals less than $25,000 per year, it is exempt from filing form 990/990 EZ. However, as a benefit to both its current and prospective donors, ANA began filing form 990EZ in 2004.
Q. What is the source of ANA's funding?
A. ANA's programs are funded almost entirely by individual donations from the community. In addition, ANA has received local and national grants and corporate donations.
About ANA Programs
Q. Who is eligible for ANA's SEOLE and GRASP programs?
A. Anyone whose baby is stillborn can request ANA's assistance. Requests are reviewed by the Board and decided on a case-by-case basis.
Q. What is the fee for the Grief Education Program?
A. There is no fee for this program. ANA provides the program when and where it is needed, and speakers volunteer their time and talents. Occasional corporate gifts and a grant from the Saratoga County Citizens Committee on Mental Health help defray the costs of presentation materials and hardware.
Q. Are ANA Care Cards used only in cases of stillbirth?
A. No. ANA Care Cards are appropriate for all instances of infant death, including miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS and general infant death. Though designed and written by a parent of a stillborn baby, the cards are designed to assist others in their attempts to support bereaved families, regardless of the cause of the baby's death.
Q. What is the fee to attend the Still Parents Luncheon?
A. Attendees are asked to give a minimum donation to cover the cost of their meal(s) at the Still Parents Luncheon. The amount of this minimum donation depends on what the hosting restaurant charges per meal.
Q. Is there a fee to attend ANA's annual Memorial Walk?
A. No. Anyone whose life has been touched by the loss of a baby can attend the walk, and there is no fee. Fundraising is optional.
The walk is held in October to coincide with National Pregnancy Loss and Infant Death Month.
